Labour Compliance
    Service

    Wages Compliance.

The Payment of Wages Act, 1936 and the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 have been replaced by the Code on Wages, 2019, which applies to all employees whatever their pay. Each month we maintain the statutory registers, check wages against minimum wages, and keep wage periods, payment timing, deductions and wage slips within what the Code and your state's rules allow.

    How it works

    Wages Compliance, step by step.

    Typical timeline

Monthly, alongside payroll. Registers are updated within a few working days of salary being paid.

    1. 1

      Wage mapping

We map each category of worker to its applicable minimum wage, wage period and payment deadline.

    2. 2

      Monthly checks

We check that wages, overtime at twice the ordinary rate, fines and deductions stay within the Code's limits.

    3. 3

      Statutory registers

We prepare the employee register, the register of wages, overtime, advances, fines and deductions, and the attendance register-cum-muster roll in electronic form.

    4. 4

      Wage slips and notices

We confirm wage slips go out on or before payment and that the notices the rules require are displayed.

    5. 5

      Annual return

We include wage data in the electronic annual return where your applicable rules require it.

    Before we start

    What we need from you.

Don't have everything yet? We send a short checklist after the first call and work with what you have.

    • Monthly payroll and attendance data
    • Category-wise list of workers with skill level and location
    • Minimum wage notifications for the states you operate in
    • Records of fines, advances and deductions
    • Copies of wage slips issued
    How fees work

The fee depends on your situation. After a short call, the partner who will do the work tells you what's involved and gives you a fixed fee in writing — before any work begins.

    • Government fees and statutory charges are billed at actuals.
    • When you pay — upfront, in stages or on completion — is agreed in writing with the fee.
